Vetesina Apartments and J. Jaanson's track
When planning our visit to the city of Pärnu, we decided, instead of camping, to stay in a hostel for a change. Our pick from Booking.com, Vetesina Apartments, turned out to be an excellent choice for accommodation. The stylish, orange-colored apartment building has been built just few years ago, and the rooms are modern, nicely decorated, clean and very comfy.
We stayed two nights in a cozy double room with two beds that could easily be combined to a double bed. Bathrooms was tiled and clean, and there was small but well-enough equipped kitchenette in the apartment. There is wifi and a flat screen TV in each room. We even had a beautiful view towards the river through two large windows.
Arriving by car was easy, since there is a free private parking in the yard behind a gate. There also is a small private garden area with table and benches. Since the free wifi covers also the garden, it is possible to for example work in open air. There would have been also some water sport facilities and bike rental, but we did not utilize those while our short stay. The host of these apartments was very nice and helpful. He provided a map of the city and instructions to the nearest grocery store, and allowed us to use a washing machine free of charge.
Vetesina is situated at the end of the road Haapsalu Maantee, next to a bridge over river Sauga. It is well within walking distance from the old town and beach, both can be reached in less than 15 minutes. Price for an apartment for two people is usually around 30 – 35 € per night when booked via booking.com, and some special offers can be found every now and then. In our opinion his comfy guesthouse hostel is well worth the price, you will surely like it also! Check out some pictures of the room and property in the gallery.
Running along the J. Jaanson’s Track
As another recommendation from our stay in Pärnu, we want to introduce the beautiful walking track that runs by the river. The route is called J. Jaanson’s track after the Olympic medalist, Estonia’s most successful rower Jüri Jaanson. Paved track follows the Pärnu River on both sides from Central Bridge to Papiniidu Bridge. It runs through some green belts and Niidu forest area in the north side, and in more urban landscapes past both historical and brand-new houses on the south side.
J. Jaanson’s track is ideal for a run or a walk and provides some really nice river views along the way, so don’t forget to take your camera with you! When you start and end your run in Vetesina Apartments like we did, it makes almost exactly 11 kilometers loop, perfect length for a morning or evening run 🙂
