The first coastal destination in Colombia for us was the small town of Necocli by the Caribbean Sea, not far from the border with Panama. It was lovely to return to the warmth of the Caribbean, and to explore this laid-back destination 🌴We stayed in a small guest house @lamariapolis by the sea, and could go swimming right from the terrace 😍During the short stay we managed to get some laptop work done, go running (trying to spot monkeys, sloths or parrots) and swimming and to take afternoon and sunset walks on the beach 🧡Necocli can be reached from Medellin by bus - we hopped in from Santa Fe. Our journey in Colombia has continued to the Caribbean coast, but let's step back in time here for a bit still, as we have a bunch of picture postcards to share! Let's start with a throwback to the beautiful Santa Fe!😍Santa Fe de Antioquia is often referred to as the "Ciudad de Madre", the Mother City, referring to the fact that it is the oldest city in the Antioquia region, founded by the Spanish in the 1540s. The historical center of Santa Fe is absolutely charming – cobblestone streets are lined with well-maintained old residential buildings, decorated with charming balconies and flowers 💚There are several beautiful squares, churches and other historical buildings in the old town area, and you can dine in lovely restaurants.You can find a lot of accommodation options right in the old town too, but we opted for a small guest house 10 minutes walk from the town center. Sunday reel 11 / 2025Santa Fe de Antioquia, what a lovely little town!😍Located 60 km north from Medellín in a valley, this old town charms with colonial architecture, cobblestone streets, warm weather and beautiful squares with flowers everywhere 🌸🌺🌿The highlight of our visit earlier this week was simply strolling around the historic centre, that looks cute both during the day and after dark. We also did a sweaty run to the Puente Colgante De Occidente, a long suspension bridge that is also a national monument, and hanged by the pool in our guesthouse. One of the most interesting parts of Medellin is the Comuna 13, an area that suffered a lot during the time of the drug cartel domination, but has since been developed and turned into a nice-looking neighborhood as well as a tourist hotspot.We really didn't know what to expect, and at first we were a bit confused by the amount of people, the number of stalls selling souvenirs, and about the noise - it almost looked like Comuna 13 is a big amusement park nowadays.But a little further away from the hustle and bustle of the main parts and the escalators going up the hill, there are still atmospheric alleys and, for example, a lot of street art ❤️💙💛#finnsaway #nomadlife #travelforlife #travelphotography #travelinspiration #locationindependent #digitalnomads #digitalnomadlife #instatravel #visitcolombia #visitmedellin

Picture postcards from Medellin (part 1) 🥰During our four days visit to this second largest city of Colombia and the capital of the Antioquia department, we explored different areas of the city by walking and running, took hundreds of pictures, rode around with metro and of course tired the metro cable, meaning gondolas that connect the main city in the valley with the parts that climb up the steep hills.Architecturally, the city is quite a jumble, a mix of pretty much everything, and not all of it beautiful. But then there are very pretty streets, squares and parks, and a lot of stunning, old buildings like churches.Medellin is known as the city of eternal spring, as the temperature is mild and spring-like throughout the year. Bogota is a surprisingly charming, gigantic city, located in a valley in the Andes Mountains, at an altitude of over 2600 meters. Bogota has turned out to be very lively city, that has an interesting mix of history and culture.We have been staying in El Chapinero, for the last 10 days cat-sitting in an area called Zona G, the gourmet zone of Bogota.
