Sunday reel 7 / 2025From Caribbean to Latin America!🤩This week was full traveling, as we first left Jamaica behind, then stayed a few more days in the lovely Ciudad Colonial in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, and then flew to Colombia!🇨🇴This weekend we have been slowly getting to know Bogota, that will be our home for a while, since we will be doing a house-sit here later. In the end of our two weeks trip in Jamaica, we stayed a couple of more days in Kingston. This time we had an apartment in Rae Town, right next to Downtown, so we got to see a bit different side of this busy capital city.In Downtown Kingston we accidentally ran into the Kingston Art District, an area full of amazing street art! A warm recommendation to head to this outdoor gallery on Water Lane and adjoining streets, if you travel to Jamaica!💛💚🖤In the Art District, there are dozens of murals, inspired by different aspects of Jamaican culture. A non-profit arts organization Kingston Creative organizes Artwalk Tours, sharing stories behind these pieces of art. They also organize Artwalk Festivals, with music, street food and vendors.#finnsaway #nomadlife

Throwback to Jamaica with some pictures from Falmouth and Runaway Bay!🤩The last place that we stayed in on the north coast was Runaway Bay, and from there we made a day trip to Falmouth, the capital of the parish of Trelawny, and one of the Caribbean's best-preserved Georgian towns.Falmouth used to be a wealthy market town and a busy port, back in the days when huge amounts of sugar was shipped abroad from Jamaica.In 2011 a new, large port was opened, and since then Falmouth has been welcoming the largest cruise ships.Right next to the town centre is a beautiful, small fishing village, with colorful, small beach pubs and restaurants - it was a lovely place for relaxing and giving cuddles to cute puppies 😍🐾In Runaway bay we stayed in a small cabin up on the hills above the town. It was a great choice, since we needed to get some writing tasks done and got to do scenic runs on the forested hills.#finnsaway #nomadlife

Here some highlights from along the week; from the north coast, where we moved from Port Antonio to Runaway Bay and visited Falmouth, and from Kingston, where we admired the art streets and participated the 80th birthday celebrations of the Jamaican all-time superstar, Bob Marley 🇯🇲#finnsaway #nomadlife #travelforlife #jamaica

Our second destination in Portland was the largest town of the region, Port Antonio. A laid-back small coastal town with some notable architecture, a couple of busy streets with shops and all kinds of stalls selling pretty much everything from fruits to shoelaces.Port Antonio once was a thriving port town, with huge amounts of bananas shipped around the world. I maybe wouldn't use the word charming when describing Port Antonio, but it's nice for a couple of days visit, and there is a beautiful harbor area.We stayed for two days in a rastafari hostel, that was cheap but had seen it's best days some time ago. Portland in northeastern Jamaica is a relatively remote corner of the country, with lush nature, beautiful beaches and small towns and villages.Our first destination in this lovely area, that doesn't see a lot of tourists flowing in, was Boston Bay. Boston is famous as the birthplace of Jamaican jerk cuisine, and for the beautiful Boston Beach that especially surfers love because of the waves.During our visit we had bad luck with the weather, so no beach days for us. Instead we just hanged around, had some laptop time in our guesthouse (with a sea view !) and did morning runs to explore the area. Oh and of course we also tried some jerk chicken and had beers in a very local roadside pub. Nothing spectacular, but it still was a nice stay!🇯🇲Pics 1-2 Boston Beach on cloudy day

Sunday reel 5 / 2025 🇯🇲Highlights of the first week in Jamaica included a visit to the wonderful Bob Marley Museum in Kingston and exploring the beautiful Portland region in the northeast.Boston Bay was peaceful and quiet, otherwise great, but it rained a lot during our stay, and the skies were grey most of the time. First feelings of Jamaica? 🇯🇲Well, we have been a bit confused to be honest 🤔 Yes it's a beautiful country, yes the people have been mostly friendly, but somehow we haven't been super impressed, yet at least. But that's partly because of the weather, that has been quite cloudy and rainy.We started with a four days stay in Kingston, the busy capital city of Jamaica. We stayed in an Airbnb apartment in Camperdown, and needed to focus on having some laptop time, so we didn't explore much.
