Greetings from Egypt!🤩 Our travels in this wonderful country started from Giza, a bustling city right next to Cairo, famous for the ancient pyramids of Giza. The largest of the pyramids, the Great Pyramid of Giza, is one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.The pyramids of Giza are simply a majestic sight, and it remains a mystery how these gigantic stone structures were actually built. The Giza pyramid complex is the most well-known and most popular tour destination in the Greater Cairo, but there are several other super interesting archaeological areas.We took a tour to the Giza pyramids, Saqqara necropolis and the ruins of Memphis. All three sites are full of history and consist of several sights. We especially loved our tour in Saqqara, where we got to admire the amazing wall decorations and hieroglyphs inside one of the pyramids (the Pyramid of Unas) as well as inside a tomb (the tomb of Idut).The wonders of ancient Egypt cannot be described, they must be experienced and seen with your own eyes. A throwback to October and the first week of Novem

A throwback to October and the first week of November with a small picture collection from northern and central Europe. After the road trip in the Balkan countries, we made a two weeks visit to our home country Finland, and stayed for a while in Tallinn in Estonia as well as in Warsaw and Toruń in Poland.The main reason to visit Warsaw was related to our craft beer blog (we visited the wonderful Warsaw Beer Festival), but Toruń was a totally new destination for us. It's a wonderful, historic city with handsome architecture, including old city walls with part of the gates and towers still intact. It's also the home town of Nikolaus Kopernikus, and the home of gingerbread biscuits!From Toruń we continued via Berlin to Alsace region in France. This area by the German border is dear to us, and it was great to return again, to visit friends and to admire the beauty of the old villages surrounded with vineyards. Then it was time to say goodbye to the camper van for the winter, and to head to warmer destinations outside Europe.As you may have seen in stories, we have arrived in Egypt, and are exploring the wonders of the ancient Egypt in Giza and Cairo - posts from here will follow soon!🤩1) In Tallinn Old Town in Estonia

One of the highlights of our stay in Slovenia, or

One of the highlights of our stay in Slovenia, or actually of the whole road trip in the Balkan countries, was a hike on top of Veliki Draški peak in September. This mountain peak (2243 m) in Triglav National Park in the Julian Alps offers stunning views towards Triglav, the highest peak of Slovenia!🤩Veliki Draški is rather easy to reach, and the hike up is super scenic, if the weather is clear. We started from the parking lot of Hotel Center in Goreljek, and the walk up took only couple of hours. The hike along well marked paths was mostly easy; only the final ascent from Studorski Preval pass to the peak is a bit more challenging and maybe not for those with fear of heights, but there is also another, easier path to the peak.This amazing day hike left us with a desire to make a multi-day hike in Triglav National park, hopefully already next summer. Hi there!👋 We are back online after a few weeks break in posting stuff. This wasn't really a planned break, we were mostly just too busy with other projects and travels. But now we are here again, so let's jump back to Balkans for a moment, before revealing travel plans for the winter months!🤩Our long summer road trip in Balkans ended where it started, in lovely Slovenia!💚 We did another house-sit in Bohinj area in September, and shortly visited also cities like Ljubljana, Maribor, Kamnik, Brežice and Nova Gorica. Our travels in Slovenia were mostly craft beer related (for those interested in beer, there is plenty of posts about Slovenian microbreweries in @craft.beer.nomads account), but we also did some sightseeing and drove around the country along the winding countryside roads.Slovenia has become one of our favorite countries in Europe, and we will for sure be back to explore more in coming years! Mostar is probably the most popular tourist destin

Mostar is probably the most popular tourist destination Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is a beautiful old city on the banks of Neretva river, and the historical capital of Herzegovina.Especially the UNESCO World Heritage -listed Old Bridge area in the Old Town of Mostar, with distinctive Ottoman era architecture, sees a lot of visitors from around Europe and beyond. In fact Mostar was named after the bridge keepers (mostari) who guarded the Stari Most (Old Bridge) over the Neretva during the Ottoman era.We visited Mostar for the first time more than 10 years ago, so it was about a time to do a short re-visit during our road trip in the Balkans in August. Many things still looked the same, but the growth of tourism was visible on the streets of the old town – for example, the number of restaurants and all kinds of stalls had increased considerably.Should you travel to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mostar is a great destination for a short city holiday, and also a great base for either water sports like rafting and kayaking or for exploring the surrounding area with beautiful nature, ancient fortresses, monasteries, mosques and much more. Did you know that there is a lot of fortresses and castles in Bosnia and Herzegovina? Among them are a several walled city-fortresses, in various degrees of preservation, built in different eras. On our road trip we visited a few of them, including the stunning Citadel Počitelj and Stolac Fortress.Počitelj is a settlement and a historic village in the town of Čapljina, on the bank of the river Neretva in the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton. The walled city, still partly in residential use, represents one of the most important and best preserved architectural ensembles in the region.In the middle ages, Počitelj was the administrative centre and centre of governance of Dubrava župa county, and had major strategic importance. The fort of Počitelj was built between the 15th and 18th centuries on a rocky cliff sloping steeply down to the river. Walk through the fortress is a wonderful experience – the atmosphere on the quiet, narrow stone streets is timeless, and the views from the upper sections are wonderful!Stolac is an ancient city located in the region of Herzegovina, and one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the World. The Old Town Fortress of Stolac is built on a hill next to the present day city. It's a complex system of stone walls and towers, built in several stages.Pics 1-5 Počitelj

Tvrdoš Monastery is a 15th-century Serbian Orthod

Tvrdoš Monastery is a 15th-century Serbian Orthodox monastery located close to the city of Trebinje in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The monastery is dedicated to the Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos, and has a cathedral painted with murals by Vicko Lavrov. Tvrdoš monastery was a seat of the Metropolitans of Herzegovina until the Venetian Empire destroyed it in 1694.Nowadays the monastery is especially known for wine production. Trebinje is a small city in the southernmost part

Trebinje is a small city in the southernmost part of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in the region of East Herzegovina, on the banks of the Trebišnjica river, surrounded with mountains. It's located only 30 km away from Dubrovnik, but couldn't be further away from the hustle and bustle of the famous Croatian coastal town.Trebinje has a rich cultural and historical heritage, and there are plenty of monuments and architecture from different eras, and the area is also sort of famous for as a wine travel destination.
We stayed in the city for a couple of days, and roamed around the lovely old town, enjoying the laid back feel.The highlights of Trebinje include the walled, old town, the Arslanagić Bridge that dates back to 1574, several churches and mosques and the hill-top Hercegovačka Gračanica Temple with fantastic views over the city.
